FD-5

Enables colour evaluation taking into consideration the fluorescence of paper under any illuminant, including D50 (M1)

  • FWAs measurement for any chosen illuminant, including self-measured illuminants
  • M1-type instruments with Virtual Fluorescence Standard technology (VFS)
  • Lightweight spectrodensitometer for printers
  • ISOCHECK for fast quality control

We are proud to offer the world’s only handheld instruments that can measure both density and colour of printed matter for any illuminant even if the substrate contains fluorescent whitening agents (FWA): The Spectrodensitometers FD-7 and FD-5.

The Fluorescent Spectrodensitometers FD-7 and FD-5 are equipped with the newest technology of Konica Minolta: VFS (Virtual Fluorescence Standard). This technology enables colour evaluation taking into consideration the fluorescence of paper under any illuminant, including D50 (ISO 13655:2009 M1). The new VFS technology takes advantage of the optical, sensor and software technology cultivated through our long experience with colour-measuring instruments to enable measurements for a variety of illuminants while including the influence of fluorescence.

Features

Features
  • Perfect tool for the printer

The FD-5 is the perfect tool to help printers in their daily business. The lightweight FD-5 makes process and quality control easier and more reliable.
TARGETMATCH including backing conversion helps printers to achieve the right colour on their production paper.
ISOCHECK enables fast quality control without additional software.
DeltaBrightness gives unambigous information about the amount of optical brightener and allows a fast control of production papers.

  • Corresponds to all Measurement Conditions of ISO 13655 (2009)

The Spectrophotometers FD-5 and FD-7 were the world’s first M1-type instruments, utilizing Konica Minolta’s original VFS (Virtual Fluorescence Standard) to provide measurements corresponding to D50. Konica Minolta's VFS makes the FDs the only instruments that can measure FWAs for any chosen illuminant, including self-measured illuminants.

  • Automatic Wavelength Compensation

With spectrophotometers, white calibration is performed as part of the daily work, and this calibrates the spectral reflectance coefficients (vertical axis). The new FD-7 and FD-5 are equipped with the industry’s first “Automatic Wavelength Compensation” function which automatically calibrate in the wavelength direction (horizontal axis) when white calibration is performed as part of daily work, greatly improving the reliability of measurement values.

Standard Management Software FD-s1w

  • Transfer function of measurement data to Excel sheet
  • User light source registration function
  • Coluor set registration function (ISO12647 check / target match)

Free download

The software “FD-s1w” offers several functions

  • Basic measurement functions

It enables transfer of measurements to MS® Excel®. The user can specify the values to be sent as well as the ordering.

  • Management of User-Illuminant files

The software allows to measure light sources, save them as file and upload them to the FD-7 or FD-5. It allows to download spectra which are stored in the FD-7 for saving them to a harddisk for later reuse.

  • Management of ColorSets

A ColorSet holds colour and tone value standards.
These can be used to:

  • Control a print against a ColorSet with ISOCHECK
  • Adjust a press to a target with TARGETMATCH
  • Save Spotcolour aim values for specific jobs in the FDs

Standard ColorSets are already included which are:
