CA-2500 - New Product Information

November 1, 2012

Introducing the 2D Color Analyzer CA-2500, an instrument for more efficient evaluation of luminance and chromaticity distribution of smart phones, etc.

Konica Minolta Optics, Inc. (Headquarters: Sakai, Osaka, JAPAN; President: Toshihiko Karasaki; hereinafter referred to as “Konica Minolta”) is proud to announce that the 2D Color Analyzer CA-2500, will be introduced at the end of February 2013. The CA-2500 measures the distribution of luminance and chromaticity of multiple samples simultaneously and increases the efficiency of display measurements on smart phones, tablets, etc

Main features
-   Capable of simultaneous measurement of multiple samples
-   Interchangeable lenses for measuring various subjects
-   High correlation with human eye sensitivity

Konica Minolta has been a leading manufacturer of display and light-source measuring instruments for more than 20 years. Its instruments include illuminance meters, the Display Colour Analyzer CA-310, which has become an industry standard model for white balance measurements, and the Spectroradiometer CS-2000A, which can measure ultra-low luminance with high accuracy.

Konica Minolta's 2D Color Analyzers have a good reputation in R & D and production lines of manufacturers throughout the world for high-accuracy evaluation of surface (two-dimensional) luminance mura and chromaticity mura of products such as TVs and computer monitors as well as the light-emitting areas of automobile instrument panels and illuminated keypads. The instruments can also be used for illuminance measurement of light and chromaticity distribution.

The new CA-2500 is the successor to the CA-2000 2D Color Analyzer (introduced in 2005), bringing greatly improved performance for evaluation of small- and medium-size displays. One of the main benefits of the CA-2500 is the ability to rank
and colour code measurement data and display on a 2D image the color distribution, color mura, chromacity and luminance from simultaneous measurement of approximately 1000 x 1000 measurement points. The minimum measurable luminance
is 0.05 cd/m2 (half of that of the previous model). It is also more durable, with service life measurement cycles of approximately 5 times that of the previous model.

In addition, the new Data Management Software CA-S25w (included as a standard accessory) offers improved ease of use for various types of evaluation and analysis together with simple visual display of measurement data. The new multi-sample
measurement capability allows multiple samples to be arranged and measured simultaneously; the evaluation results for each individual sample can then be displayed and stored. This provides users with greatly improved efficiency for the evaluation of small and medium size displays.

Konica Minolta continues to develop precise sensing technology to offer solutions which match customer needs and help to give shape to the ideas of its customers.

2D Color Analyzer CA-2500 Main Features

Multi-Sample Capability
The CA-2500 is equipped with multi-sample capability. This enables the simultaneous measurement of multiple samples arranged within the measurement range and individual evaluation, display and storage of measurement results for each
sample. The CA-2500 can greatly improve efficiency by simultaneously measuring multiple samples of small sized displays such as smartphones.

Interchangeable lenses for measuring various subjects
3 interchangeable lenses and connecting rings enable users to switch between 5 different angles of view: Standard, Wide angle, Telephoto, Macro 1, and Macro 2. This enables the CA-2500 to measure subjects, from large-sized displays such as LCD TVs or organic EL TVs to tiny areas of car navigation systems, instrument panels or small LCD panels.

High correlation with sensitivity of the human eye
In order to precisely measure luminance and chromaticity the CA-2500 employs XYZ filters to provide spectral response closely matching the CIE 1931 colour-matching functions. This provides luminance and chromaticity measurements with high correlation to visual evaluation.
