SYMFOS

Symfos is the new brand of konica Minolta's next-generation lighting, including OLED lighting.

When mankind discovered how to light up the night through fire and electricity, our lives became more convenient.

But today we need a new kind of lighting that combines convenience with answers to problems such as rising energy consumption, increased CO2 emissions, and pollution of the environment.

The name Symfos expresses a focus on harmony between man and nature and the dream of gently lighting the way to the future of the Earth and life.

Why Konica Minolta and Lighting? Why OLED?

Konica Minolta was founded as a business devoted to photography and to advancing light technologies. Currently it offers products such as business information equipment, optical devices, diagnostic imaging systems, and measuring instruments, on the basis of four core technologies: materials, optics, nano-fabrication, and imaging.

With its OLED lighting, Konica Minolta has now brought its expertise in light technologies to bear on the world of lighting. As an area light source, OLED lighting from Konica Minolta is thin, lightweight, cool in operation, and mercury-free, with exceptionally high luminous efficacy. It is an environmentally friendly next-generation lighting solution.

The key to high-performance OLED lighting is said to be phosphorescent OLED materials, which have a theoretical luminous efficacy four times higher than fluorescent materials. Konica Minolta has developed its own blue phosphorescent materials, enabling it to commercialize the world’s first OLED panels using only phosphorescent materials.

Through its development of high-quality, easy to use OLED panels, Konica Minolta intends to continue contributing to a brighter future.
