Beaufort enhances colour quality control

Investment in the latest colour measuring technology is enabling Beaufort to enhance quality control standards for its painted aluminium profile.

Beaufort is one of the first companies in the industry to use the new
CM-600d portable spectrophotometer from colour specialists, Konica Minolta Sensing, to colour match painted profile and ensure continuity of colour. The compact, hand-held device features an advanced optical design and easy-to-read LCD screen for fast and highly accurate colour measurement and interpretation of results either in the factory or on site.

Beaufort mainly uses RAL and British Standard colour systems and works closely to these standards. Peter Burke, Operations Director, says that maintaining a tight control on colour matching is key to customer satisfaction.

“With our new portable spectrophotometer we can compare painted product and benchmark colours quickly and effectively.”

The CM-600d is able to measure colour under any conditions and any degree of difference is clearly shown on the LCD screen’s graphical display. Fully portable, the instrument is designed with wireless communication and data can be sent to a PC via USB or Bluetooth if used out in the field

In addition to the ever-popular white polyester powder paint finish, Beaufort aluminium profile is available in over 500 special colours – subject to quantity and delivery. Beaufort’s special service allows a fast supply of any RAL colour in small and large batch runs.

“The extensive choice of colours is one of the many benefits of aluminium profile,” says Peter Burke, “and our new spectrophotometer will further enhance our colour matching capability.

Alan Perkins, Technical Sales Manager South at Konica Minolta Sensing comments: “This equipment has been used for many years in the profile industry. Its proven reliability and ability to work efficiently in many adverse conditions has enabled Konica Minolta to maintain a leading position within the colour measuring market.”
